Amsterdam Technology bv is a company in the Netherlands that emerged from the two firms "van Amsterdam SES" and "Technolothgy bv". These two firms have joined their experiences and expertise, on the one hand, in development of software and, on the other hand, in mechanical solutions for special, client-specific ultrasonic scanning systems in immersion technology along with eddy current scanning systems.

Ultrasonic MiniScanner
– the advantages of immersion technology and manual inspection combined

For imaging ultrasonic testing, the method of immersion technology generally offers the best scanning features. However, this type of inspection has its practical limitations. The test object for the adaption of the transmitter has to be positioned into an immersion tank, even when only a small area is to be inspected.

Amsterdam Technology bv has specialized in combining the advantages of ultrasonic immersion scanning systems with those of manual, portable inspection by developing a new inspection instrument; the ultrasonic "MiniScanner".

The "MiniScanner" is a high-resolution and portable ultrasonic scanning system. The handheld scanner can be placed on a test object and after a scan time of only a few seconds, a C-scan is directly presented on the ultrasonic control unit. The complete raw data of the ultrasonic scan can be stored for each scan point. Because of this, it is possible to examine the inspection results further after each use. The "MiniScanner" can be used for a wide range of applications due to its exchangeable scan heads for straight and angled scanning positions.

Diverse usage – e.g. the spot weld inspection

A typical field of usage for the "MiniScanner" is the spot weld inspection in the automotive industry. It is possible to nondestructively determine and measure diameters of spot welds and enclosed materials. Not only can processes be optimized but the costs of exclusions and inspections can be reduced.
